Hello CSPES Family! A couple of things. 1. First, I want to express my IMMENSE gratitude for all the hand warmers donations. They really do make the car line more bearable. Also, please remember to do your part and have the kids ready to jump out when you get to the drop-off area so that we can keep the line moving as fast as possible. Finally, feel free to join us on the car line at any time; we would love to have volunteers! 2. I am LOVING all of the poems that are rolling in for the 5 Star Poetry Competition. Remember the deadline is friday. Have a great rest of the day and stay warm!

4:15 p.m., 1/21/25: Anne Arundel County Public Schools will operate on a normal schedule for all students and staff on Wednesday, January 22. Families are encouraged to take steps to ensure students are appropriately dressed for the extremely cold temperatures that are forecast for Wednesday morning. Information from the Anne Arundel County Department of Health related to handling the cold temperatures appropriately can be found through this link or at www.aacps.org. Those precautions include layered clothing and appropriate attire to ensure that hands, faces, and skin are covered. Families of students who walk to school should consider making arrangements to drive or have their students driven to school. Thank you.

Today over 500 teaching assistants gathered virtually for AACPS' first Paraeducator Symposium, Empowering Paraeducators for Student Independence, organized by the Division of Specialized Instruction & Early Intervention Services. This professional development provided our valuable teaching assistants, from early childhood through high school, with sessions on a variety of topics including enhancing inclusive learning environments for all students. Seeing families as valuable members of our students' teams, the latest edition of the Family Academy features a session entitled, Inclusion: What is it and Why is it so Important? available to watch on the Family Academy YouTube channel at https://youtu.be/iFNZlPKmG24 (English), https://youtu.be/HNv-TpYadzc (Spanish)

REMINDER: The instructional day begins at 7:50 at CSPES. We will continue to try and close our car line as close to 7:50 as possible. If there is an extenuating circumstance causing back ups, we will be as flexible as possible. However, we must maintain the integrity of the instructional schedule and this includes starting our day on time! We begin opening car doors at 7:20 AM. If you have concerns, please direct them to our main office who will help you get in touch with our admin team by parking, walking your child into the building, and signing them in. Mr. Bruening and Mr. Chandler will not be able to discuss your concerns in the car line. Thank you for your understanding and support of the instructional programming at CSPES! SS/Assistant Principal

Plan ahead! CSPES Celebrates Heart Health on Valentine's Day. Students will have an opportunity to give classmates Valentine's Day Cards, non-food treats, and enjoy some heart-healthy snacks with their friends (provided via family donations). A more formal communication and details are forthcoming, but I wanted to give you a heads up since many of you may begin purchasing Valentine's in the next few weeks! 🥰❤ There will also be a "wishlist" for snack donations. Like last year, donations are made to the school and distributed to each class. Thank you! SS/Assistant Principal
