4 Days Until School Begins!
#BelongGrowSucceed
Don’t forget to check out important dates for the 2024-25 school year on our AACPS Calendar: aacps.org/calendar

Welcome to a new AACPS feature: Thursday Thought with Dr. Bedell. Each week, the Superintendent will provide his thoughts on a topic of interest to AACPS families, students, and staff. #AACPSFamily #BelongGrowSucceed

As we anticipate the first day of school next week, it is important to note that AACPS has updated their policy in the Student Handbook.
Cell phones, earbuds, and all electronic devices are to be OFF and AWAY during the school day, which includes lunch and hallway transitions.
There is no exception to this COUNTY-WIDE rule.
All cell phone violations will be reported to Administration and will follow progressive discipline according to the AACPS Student Code of Conduct.
Please help us ensure the success of this new COUNTY-WIDE initiative by calling the main office to relay a message to your student rather than sending a message to their device. If you have any questions, please call the main office or email your students administrator. Thank you for your cooperation. We look forward to seeing 6th graders on Monday, 8/26 and ALL students on Tuesday, 8/27.

Good evening, Families,
I am sharing information received from Dr. Kendra Johnson, Associate Superintendent for the Division of Instruction and School Performance, regarding updates to AACPS Middle School grading regulation.
Quarterly assessments cannot be factored into the minimum of 9 recorded grades in a marking period. It must be separate category
The score range for an E, for the quarter, has been revised to 50-59%
A technical change for the quarter grade of NG (no grade) will now show as “Blank Grade”
This change to the policy takes effect at the start of the 24-25 School year.
I wanted to be sure everyone was aware of the updated AACPS policy.
I will be available for questions at our open house.
August 20th, 10 AM-12 PM and 5 PM-7 PM
Respectfully,
Scott Manbeck
Principal SRMS
